Recent work: Still Life and Wedding

Still life in Yellow
This was a competition entry. The specifics were the photograph had to be taken on 8 October and the subject was 'Yellow'. While walking the dog at sunset I saw the honey eater lying on the concrete edge of the road. I picked it up gently, in a spare litter bag, its body still felt like it had warmth and was soft. The words on the recycle bin mimicked the discovery, and also the birds likely fate by car but not its demise which was a quiet resting place in the flower bed.
The surreal experience of peering in on its 'final' resting place the next morning to find it vacated led me to various suggestions, it wasn't actually dead and recovered, but what about the ants that had invaded it?, some scavenger of the night had claimed it, a cat, a rat, a snake? Perhaps the recycle bin had foretold its fate.

The Wedding
A friend's sons wedding photographed in the Cycad Garden at The Botanic Gardens, Adelaide, shot on a single roll of Fuji Velvia 100 film  with a Nikon F90X and 28-200 Tamron lens.
It was a hot afternoon in the sun.
I was not the 'Official' photographer - some 'snaps' for a friend.

Love this informality prior to the ceremony

I was looking for this brolly to frame in a shot and it appeared again at the end of the roll.

MALLALA Motor Sport Park - Practice Day 31 October 2015

Mallala Motor Sport Park is located about an hours drive north of Adelaide.
http://www.mallala.com
Saturday 31 October 2015 was practice day.
My son Luke, grandson Oscar and I headed to the track to check out the cars.
A warm day and the flies were biting but we had a lot of fun.
Kate, Oscar's mum, made some ham and cheese rolls and packed some finger buns
for lunch and as you can see Oscar enjoyed a chocolate flavored iceblock.
We are looking forward to going to Mallala again when Luke has his
Nissan Silvia race ready.

F1 - ADELAIDE - VICTORIA PARK CIRCUIT Saturday 17 October 2015

'force de l'esprit' - in the shadows - minus the shell.

A brief return of some classic F1 racing cars to Adelaide's famous
street circuit at Victoria Park on Saturday 17 October 2015 for the
Adelaide Motorsport Festival 2015.
The last F1 race was held in Adelaide in 1994 before going to
Albert Park in Melbourne, Victoria the following year.
The F1 cars raced the streets of Adelaide from 1985 - 1994.
Aryton Senna's 1985 Lotus JP Special was on display along with
some stars from other famous stables.
The sound, the smell, the color, the excitement of F1 racing
returned all to briefly to Adelaide 30 years after the first F1's hit
the streets of our fair city.
In an earlier blog I posted photos from the earlier years of F1 racing in Adelaide.
