Yorke Peninsula 3 day Road Trip - From Adelaide overnight stays Coobowie, Marion Bay, Moonta

Glenda, Leo (the dog) and I departed from our home at Royston Park
shortly after 9am on Tuesday last 30 September 2014 for a road trip
to Yorke Peninsula.
The first stop  at Port Wakefield 100km north is a must for a
Cornish Pasty from the bakery.
Port Wakefield is a hidden treasure for those who venture to take a break
off the highway, before taking the coast road down the peninsula.

We sidetracked through most of the little coastal towns off the road heading
south down the peninsula. Our next stop, for a cuppa, was at Wool Bay where the
first sequence of photographs were taken.

I spent many enjoyable school holidays with my Aunty and cousins on their farm

which is now the site of Adelaide Brighton Cement Co., Klein Point limestone 

quarry just north of Wool Bay.

This was the motivation to explore Yorke Peninsula,with mild to occasionally warm days and cool to chilly evenings the weather was great for traveling.

There were so many ruggedly beautiful scenic and historical sites and varieties of fauna and flora encountered which made this short 3 day road trip to Yorke Peninsula very enjoyable.

After leaving Port Wakefield on the return journey I unfortunately contributed to the road kill. 

I only noticed a large snake on the road as I was upon it and looked in the rear vision mirror to see it 

flailing in agony its back broken by the passing wheels. It was an unsettling experience.

On a gravel road one can avoid road kills through traveling at a slower speed but on the busy bitumen highway it is dangerous traveling at a higher speed and with cars following.
